What to Do When Two Interior Doors Are Too Close Together for Backband Trim

When installing backband trim around interior door casing, you may run into a tight corner where two doors are too close together to fit backband on both sides of each casing.

The solution: Treat the two doors as one unit.

Instead of trying to squeeze backband between them, run the backband up the outside edge of the first door, across the top, and down the outside edge of the second door. This frames both doors together and eliminates the cramped middle section.  This is a great hack.

The result is a much cleaner, more intentional finish — and it often looks better than forcing tight trim details into a small space.
